FashionPass Review
Despite my love for finding new gently worn things to wear, I am slowly running out of closet space! As cool as it is to score deals on stunning pieces of clothing I find all over LA and beyond, I’ve desperately needed a break and a minute to thin out my closet, and sell my own gently worn pieces on Poshmark.
I stumbled across Fashion Pass on Instagram, the way everyone finds anything nowadays. And after poking around the website, looking at their inventory, and chatting with a stylist, I was very very intrigued. Once I signed up, I went through the site and hearted a million things I’d love to wear just about anywhere. The coolest thing about this rental process (which truthfully defeats my purpose of keeping a slim closet) is the option to buy out your rented pieces. Yes seriously. Try, buy, love is the best way to describe whats happening here. I’m not a denim girl but from my first Fashion Pass rental, I chose to keep the Levi’s Shorterall and Show Me Your Mumu Arizona shorts.
The For Love & Lemons sequin mini was an add on that I was dying to wear for my birthday weekend in Palm Springs and it fit like a glove. I weirdly felt like a Kardashian the night of my 28th birthday complete with a full face and bronzer all over my limbs. It was a moment. Though I debated keeping yet another sequin dress, I already have 5 and didn’t exactly need this one, despite it being the sexiest dress I’ve ever worn to dinner and got drunk from one martini in.
The price to buy these pieces is another part of the process that blew my mind. If you chose to keep a piece from your rental, you could buy it out for 30%-55% off it’s retail price. Most of these clothes have all been worn and loved before but are dry cleaned after each rental so they’re still in amazing condition. For these prices and these conditions, and these cute pieces, I’m sold.
I loved adding two classic denim Summer staples to my closet - which you will definitely see me outfit repeating on the gram. The floral maxi dress with pockets was also thrown in as a bonus pick from my stylist. I loved wearing it out in Avalon when we were on the hunt for the best seafood on the island.
Here’s how it works:
You get to rent an unlimited amount of some of the cutest pieces out there, it depends on the plan you choose. No matter what you decide to rent, you can add an additional item to your bag for $11.95 each. All you have to do is send all the items you rented back together when you’re done wearing them. Whatever you don’t send/decide to keep, you’ll get automatically charged the member discount price to buy it out. I chose to the socialite plan (2 items + 1 accessory) and my stylist was nice enough to add a bonus item (maxi dress) and I added on the sequin mini. As I said I ended up keeping the denim pieces but was able to rent $640 worth of stylish pieces for $79.
Flip through the deets on what I rented and what I had the option of buying it out for. You always regret the sequin dresses you don’t buy, but for now my closet is happy to have these stylist visitors pop in every once in awhile.
