feeling glittery
We’ve been on and off being at home, going outside, getting tested before we meet up with friends, and are now stuck back inside in lock down #2. I’ve been wearing leggings on repeat all week, but I still wanna get dressed up, put on a romantic scent, body glitter, a red lip, and big lashes, and act like a girly girl around the holidays. You know just an average everyday look. But real talk, I just want to pretend things are normal for a sec and get in the holiday spirit, beauty wise. I’ve complied a few beauty picks that have been making me feel like a brand new woman and make me actually excited to plan holiday date nights that don’t involve sweatpants!
FOR THE FACE
I’ve been trying to put on lipstick at home when I know I don’t have to wear a mask for a few hours but some days I’m so busy I won’t put my face on until just before my boyfriend gets home. I love a red lip any time of the year but I really really love Rihanna’s Fenty Liquid Lip Paint. It’s chic. The color is the perfect shade of sultry red and the packaging is unlike any other lipstick which is probably why I’ve throw it in my purse every time I go out. You never know when you’ll need a good red lip. For something a bit more low key and hydrating, I’ve been dipping into the lifter gloss with hyaluronic acid. I wear Silk which is a perfect nude shade for my natural lip color and actually hydrates my lips as well as chapstick. The packaging on this one is surprisingly stylish too. Way to go Maybeline. Last but not least, I’ve stopped wearing my Benefit Roller Lash which I wear on a semi regular basis and instead have swapped it out for Marc Jacobs Lengthening Mascara. Fake. Lashes. Who?! This one is pretty dramatic and makes me look like I’m wearing falsies which I hate because I can never glue them on right despite how many YT tutorials I watch. This is a game changer and comes in a mini for you to test out. I bought the full size after I got the mini because I AM SOLD!
FOR THE BODY
It’s finally a bit colder here in LA! No snow on the mountains yet but I can wear cashmere and faux leather jumpsuits. However I’m still rocking a deep V and not wearing a bra (sorry Mom) so I love putting on a little subtle scented body oils to keep the skin I want to show off, looking hydrated, glittery, and glowy. Lately I’ve been reaching for Tom Ford Shimmering Body Oil and EWC Shimmering Body Oil. Both are light and leave your skin looking really really good and not like you doused your chest in glitter from Claire’s! I’ve also been wearing glossier you after I shower at night because it just smells so heavenly and it’s another way of putting me in a non-pandemic headspace.
FOR THE HAIR
Besides trying to nurse my hair back to health because of “pandemic related hair loss” (which yes it is an actual thing, and you’re not old - just going crazy like the rest of us) with argan oils, It’s A 10 spray for split ends and Olapex to give it some much needed strength, I’ve been pretty low key. I don’t use heat on it unless its for a special occasion and I don’t curl it unless I’m going for a certain look. My hair is fine, wavy, bayalaged and long. I’m just trying to keep it healthy at this point. I’ve been really into combing it with an EMI JAY hair comb to stimulate growth in my scalp after a shower. I’ve also been putting it up in something other than a bun or low pony with their glitter hair clip. It’s surprisingly strong and that gold glitter really gets you wanting to play Mariah Carey music all day long.
Happy Holidays to you and your beauty routine!
